WHY DO WE NEED CRADLE TO CRADLE IN MUNICIPALITIES?
We need Cradle to Cradle because…
- Current linear production and economic practices “from cradle to grave” lead to resource depletion and environmental destruction.
- The transformation to an innovative, healthy, and circular economy that thinks “from cradle to cradle” is urgently needed.
- Interconnected challenges require interconnected solutions: C2C as a holistic concept brings climate and resource protection together by decoupling economic growth from planetary boundaries.
- C2C, as the gold standard of circular economy, creates social, environmental, and economic added value for the city of tomorrow.
- Without municipalities, there can be no transformation! Cities, towns, and districts offer particularly high potential for C2C solutions.
C2C offers the opportunity to work together to shape a livable future, in which…
- “Houses like trees and cities like forests”
- buildings are municipal raw material storage facilities of tomorrow,
- cities are designed to be socially just and healthy for people and the environment,
- public contracting authorities procure in an exemplary and future-proof manner,
- municipal and economic synergies can be promoted as needed,
- municipalities learn from other municipal C2C pioneers, and enjoy the transformation!
„We must radically rethink now, and — this is where I fully agree with Cradle to Cradle — we have to link this with quality of life.“
