NEW ANNE FRANK SCHOOL DAY CARE CENTER
Hanseatic City of Lüneburg
The new Anne Frank School after-school care center is one of the projects in the Hanseatic City of Lüneburg where future-oriented and sustainable construction based on the cradle to cradle concept has been successfully implemented.It is the first municipal school building in Germany to be constructed using straw bale construction with clay plaster. One of the special features of this project is the joint use concept for the building and the outdoor facilities of the after-school care center and school.

Neustadt an der Weinstraße
The 2027 State Garden Show in Neustadt an der Weinstraße is a real-world lab for circular, high-impact value creation (Cradle to Cradle) – transforming a forgotten former landfill into a lasting urban paradise that belongs to everyone. Rooted in tradition, Neustadt leads the way in lived democracy and lasting innovation.
SUSTAINABLE PROCUREMENT ACCORDING TO C2C
City of Ludwigsburg
Since 2019, the city of Ludwigsburg has been basing its public procurement on the Cradle to Cradle (C2C) concept. In order to consistently implement C2C procurement in procurement practice, an internal administrative directive regulates the application of C2C approaches throughout the entire procurement process. During implementation, procurers are additionally supported by a central competence center for sustainable procurement.
CIRCULAR ADMINISTRATION
Berlin-Pankow district
Through the “Circular Administration” project, Berlin’s Pankow district partnered with Cradle to Cradle NGO has demonstrated how C2C can be systematically embedded in the way public institutions operate. In a joint series of events and workshops, employees from across multiple departments developed hands-on approaches to construction, procurement, and internal administration. The outcome is a concrete action paper that now serves as the foundation for putting these ideas into practice.
ON THE WAY TO BECOMING A CRADLE TO CRADLE MODEL REGION
Lüchow-Dannenberg district
Project location: Northeast Lower Saxony
As a model region, the Lüchow-Dannenberg district wants to take responsibility for climate and resource protection and test innovative solutions to ecological, economic, and social challenges. The district plans to integrate the results (SREK – Strategic Regional Development Concept) into regional action strategies in the long term, thereby strengthening the region’s capacity for transformation and regional stakeholders.
KOPERNIKUSSTRAßE RESIDENTIAL BUILDING
Aschersleben Building and Housing Association
Project location: Aschersleben
The residential building on Kopernikusstraße in Aschersleben is the first project in Europe to convert a former prefabricated building from the 1970s into a highly energy-self-sufficient residential building. Ascherslebener Gebäude- und Wohnungsgesellschaft mbH not only focused on an innovative energy and rental concept, but also concentrated on using sustainable, recyclable building materials with Cradle to Cradle certification for the renovation.

Im Kern ist wood.ii ein mobiler, zirkulär gebauter und wandelbarer Lernraum, der Bildung für nachhaltige Entwicklung und Kreislaufwirtschaft nach Cradle to Cradle Prinzipien in den Mittelpunkt stellt. Das Ziel von wood.ii ist innovative und praxisnahe Bildung: Durch praktische Erfahrungen im und am Haus und nicht nur theoretische Konzepte, soll es Menschen den Zugang zu zirkulärem und regenerativem Bauen und Kreislaufwirtschaft erleichtern.
RAG FOUNDATION AND RAG AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT

Project location: Essen
The administration building for the RAG Foundation and RAG Aktiengesellschaft is located at the Zollverein UNESCO World Heritage Site in Essen. The multifunctional roof landscape compensates for the floor space sealed by the construction project and offers an identity-creating, value-added space at the interface between industrial culture and natural landscape. The construction project is a pioneering project in the field of circular construction.
CENTRAL FIRE STATION IN STRAUBENHARDT
Municipality of Straubenhardt
The new fire station in Straubenhardt was designed according to Cradle to Cradle principles. Many measures were incorporated into a holistic concept for the project. The result is a building that leaves a “positive footprint.” For example, it actively cleans rainwater, improves air quality, and is resource-positive.
